Winter Weddings Dos and Don’ts

bride with fur stoleThere’s so much to love about winter weddings – they’re magical and romantic. However, be sure you’re prepared for the chilly weather. Here are our top dos and don’ts for having a fabulous winter wedding.

Do Dress Bridesmaids in Style…

Torn between wanting your bridesmaids to wear a short dress and having them stay warm during your photo ops? It’s completely okay to choose a strapless or short dress for your wedding style as long as your bridesmaids are comfortable with it and you’ve got the heat on indoors.

… But Don’t let them freeze

Remember, you can’t be overly picky about what they wear when your bridesmaids are outdoors. Keep your bridesmaids stylish and warm by accessorizing with fur wraps and muffs.

Do Add Warmth To Your Celebration…

Baby, it’s cold outside, and as bride and groom, it’s your duty to turn up the heat! Go beyond glowing candles to add warmth to your reception site. Keep guests cozy by adding warm touches such as hot soup, a hot chocolate bar, or serve warm desserts!

…But Don’t Let It Overheat

We know it’s cold outside but things may heat up once the party gets started. If it seems like guests are breaking a serious sweat on the dance floor, ask your wedding coordinator or site manager to turn the heat down a notch.

Do Play Up the Holiday Theme Favors…

Winter – or holiday-themed favors are always guest favorites. Get creative: hand out ornaments personalized with each guest’s name or pre mixed hot chocolate kits to add a nice warm touch!

… But Don’t Overdue the Holiday Theme Colours

Reds and greens certainly reflect the season, but don’t overdo this color combo. Instead, choose bold, bright colours to contrast against the soft winter whites. Or consider the less-is-more approach to your color palette: silver and white with crystal accents can add some serious glamour to your winter wedding.
